Goodwill to Open a Trendy Apparel Shop, April 7, on Metairie Road

The Unique Goodwill offers a Chic Collection of Hip & Designer Donated Goods

NEW ORLEANS (April 4, 2016) – Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana will open The Unique Goodwill, a trendy, chic apparel and household goods shop, at 480 Metairie Road, on  Thursday, April 7.   A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held 15 minutes prior to the store’s doors opening at 9 a.m.

The Unique Goodwill is the agency’s 20th retail store in southeast Louisiana and its 5th store in Jefferson Parish.

Unlike Goodwill’s traditional thrift stores, The Unique Goodwill is a smaller shop featuring hand-selected home goods, accessories, shoes, men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, including more designer labels, like Jimmy Choo and St. John Knits, than you would find at a typical Goodwill store.  Customers will also have a stylish atmosphere in which to shop.  The store is filled with display tables, stylish clothing racks and antique framed pictures showcasing Goodwill’s historical beginnings and mission of helping others help themselves.

Bill Jessee, president of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana, describes the store as a collection of specially price, hand-selected donated goods and every day Goodwill bargains.  “For years, we’ve been busy updating our retail model by renovating our stores for a better customer shopping experience.  The Unique Goodwill is an exciting new concept for us because it brings in a shopper that might not otherwise patron a traditional Goodwill store.”

Like the traditional Goodwill store, the Unique Goodwill will accept donations with a convenient donation drop off on the side of the store.

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to offering opportunities to people with disabilities and other barriers to improve their economic self-sufficiency through job training, education, support services and employment. Last year, Goodwill served 2,049 individuals and helped 231 people find jobs. Goodwill serves 23 parishes of southeastern Louisiana and operates 20 retail stores located in Baton Rouge, Chalmette, Covington, Denham Springs, Gonzales, Hammond, Harvey, Houma, Kenner, Mandeville, Metairie, New Orleans, River Ridge, Slidell and Walker.
