When A. Martinez (AM) enrolled in the Good Transitions program, she was focused on building a successful future for herself and creating long-term stability as she prepared for adulthood. Throughout her time in the program, AM remained determined to continue her education, gain employment and work toward becoming fully independent.

AM will graduate on May 17, 2026, from JCFA Nontraditional Charter School, marking a major milestone in her educational journey. As graduation approaches, AM has already begun planning for the next chapter of her life with clear goals and aspirations for her future.

Following high school, AM plans to obtain employment while continuing her education. She is interested in pursuing studies in cybersecurity and hopes to attend Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana College First program to explore opportunities in Medical Billing and Coding or become an IT Specialist. Through career exploration and future planning, AM has demonstrated motivation to continue learning and developing skills that will support long-term career success.

In addition to her educational goals, AM is working toward achieving personal independence. She hopes to save money, travel, purchase a vehicle and eventually obtain her own apartment. AM expressed that her overall goal is to “keep going until I have the life I want,” reflecting her perseverance, resilience, and commitment to creating a positive future for herself.

AM’s journey serves as an example of determination and hope during National Foster Care Month. Her continued dedication to education, career development and personal growth highlights the impact of goal setting, support systems and self-motivation. As AM prepares to graduate next week, we proudly celebrate her accomplishments and look forward to the bright future ahead of her.
