Twenty years ago, Susan Atkins came to Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana looking for a job. She found a career and a place where she could make a difference.
Susan applied to Goodwill when she returned to New Orleans after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
“I would see a lot of people standing outside the Goodwill building, but I never knew what they were there for until I got here in 2006,” she shares of her knowledge of Goodwill’s work before she applied.
Over the years, she went from Training Manager to Human Resources Representative. Today, Susan serves as one of our Retail District Managers – a role that perfectly matches her passion for people.
“Becoming a District Manager was really a passion of mine because I knew that in that position I get to talk to people and help them,” she says of her job.
Susan says her own love of learning new things and the opportunities Goodwill has given her to continue growing have kept her here all this time. She says her plan is to stay here at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana until she retires!
