Peer Support Representative

 

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma/GED and three years’ experience in working with youth ages 14-21 years old.  Hiring preference is given to foster care alumni.

 

The selected candidate must be able to provide personal and emotional support to children aging out of foster care by acting as a mentor to Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) AND Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) referrals along with case management and individual services.  Must be able to maintain accurate documentation, electronic records, and database to ensure tracking of each individual being served.  The selected candidate should also have substantial knowledge of mentoring to build successful program participants who possess creativity, leadership ability and oral & written communication skills.  Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other social media applications a plus.  Excellent verbal/written communications skills and the ability to pass State criminal background check, drug screen and TB test required. Must pass DMV check, provide own transportation, maintain proper vehicle registration, inspection and insurance. This is a grant position and is located in New Orleans, Louisiana.
