Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana is excited to announce the grand opening of our newest store in Marrero, Louisiana, on February 2! Doors to the retail store will open at 9AM, there will be a job fair outside and mission tours will be available to anyone interested in learning more about how our donation centers and retail stores operate.

This store opening will add more revenue to fund the fight to keep people once incarcerated from returning to prison by increasing job opportunities.

“Unemployment is a primary reason many former inmates go back to prison. Our mission at Goodwill is to remove barriers to employment by providing training and resources to people facing employment challenges,” said Jodee Daroca, President and CEO of Goodwill SELA.

According to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement, the 2022 recidivism rate in the state of Louisiana was 32%. However, the recidivism rate is less than 5% for people in participating Goodwill ex-offender programs. 87% of the revenue generated through the sale of gently used donated items at Goodwill retail stores pays for workforce development to help former inmates, veterans and individuals with financial, physical, mental and other challenges.

We hope you’ll join us to celebrate this exciting milestone on February 2!
