 GOODWILL OFFERING FREE JOB TRAINING TO ELIGIBLE SNAP PARTICIPANTS

Do you currently receive or qualify for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) benefits? If so, you may be eligible to receive FREE job training at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana’s Employment and Training Center through funding provided by the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services.

Goodwill’s training programs are in high demand industries such as Communications Broadband Technology, Digital Literacy, Microsoft Office Suite and Medical Coding & Billing.  All training programs are accredited by the Louisiana Board of Regents. Participants that qualify under the state’s guidelines will receive supported services to cover the cost related to the education or training program they choose.

Although mostly known for its stores, Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana is a 501C3 nonprofit organization with a mission of providing job training, education, services and employment opportunities to people with barriers to employment to improve their economic self-sufficiency through job training, education, support services and employment.  All Goodwill agencies are independently governed by a local board of directors and provide programs and services tailored to the needs of the communities in which they operate.

In 2016, Goodwill’s Workforce Development & Mission Services Division served 2,062 individuals and placed 283 people into sustainable employment. Goodwill operates more than 34 janitorial and grounds maintenance contracts and 21 retail stores in 14 cities—including Baton Rouge, Chalmette, Covington, Denham Springs, Gonzales, Hammond, Houma, Kenner, Mandeville, Metairie, New Orleans, River Ridge, Slidell, Walker and Zachary.
